1990
The foundation
Juan Sr. entered the turbocharger industry by founding a company
dedicated to manufacturing complete turbo conversion kits. These
systems became popular during the early adoption of turbocharging,
when manufacturers were looking for proven ways to offer
turbocharged versions of existing vehicles.
Early OEM adoption
Manufacturer-certified systems
Turbo conversion systems developed by the company were used for
Toyota, Mitsubishi and Kia applications. The kits were offered
through official channels as manufacturer-certified options,
establishing a standard of engineering, durability and repeatable
production that remains part of our approach today.
Early 2010s
Manufacturing infrastructure
The manufacturing infrastructure used to produce those systems was
acquired by our parent company. Today, the operation develops its
own casting patterns and operates its own foundry in South America,
giving us direct control over materials, tooling and production
quality.
2013
BigBoost Turbo is founded
Juan Sr. founded BigBoost Turbo in the United States as an importer
of Brazilian Master Power turbochargers. The company combined
established turbocharger experience with direct access to
manufacturing and began building its presence in the American
performance market.
2016 and beyond
Pioneering modern BMW performance
Juan Jr. joined the business and recognized an emerging opportunity
in late-model BMW performance. BigBoost first entered the N55
market, creating the foundation of the company we are today. When
the B58 arrived, much of the aftermarket viewed it as
“a tuner’s nightmare.” We saw an opportunity.
We dove deeply into the platform through development, testing,
tuning and racing, helping pioneer the foundations for building,
tuning and competing with high-output B58-powered cars.
Today
Built for the next level
As the B58 and S58 platforms grew and customers began demanding
higher power levels, we expanded our in-house capabilities with
dedicated fabrication for top-mount manifolds and complete turbo
systems. This allowed us to reach a wider performance market while
staying focused on accessible, competition-ready products.
